Belleville Wix Academy

Work with Us

Belleville Wix Academy is a vibrant and supportive place to work. We are a successful school with a focus on positive learning behaviour and high expectations for all children. We are in a vibrant area of south London, close to Clapham Junction and Clapham Common, with excellent transport links to central London and across the south of England.

Belleville Wix Academy is part of Quality First Education (Q1E), a successful Multi-Academy Trust with four primary schools on five sites across south London. This is an exciting time for us and we want the best people to join us as we grow further.

Please see below for details of opportunities to join us. You can also read the blog post from our Headteacher, Séana Henry, for the Department for Education for Thank a Teacher Day.

Article ImageWe are now open for applications to join us as a class teacher from September 2024.

We are interested to hear from great teachers from the Early Years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 2, to work in either our English stream or our English/French bililngual stream.

We recruit on an ongoing basis until positions are filled, but to be included in our next round of shortlisting, please apply by noon on Monday 22nd April.

At Belleville Wix Academy we have over 300 pupils, a fantastic staff team and a supportive school community. We share our site with Ecole de Wix, a French primary school, and three streams are offered on site: an English stream, a French stream and a joint bilingual stream provision. We are very proud of our unique bi-cultural ethos. It's a really interesting and innovative place to work (you do not need to speak French!). It would be wonderful to be able to show you around.

At Q1E, we believe that “the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers” (McKinsey 2007). The recruitment, retention and development of high quality teachers is our highest priority.

Staff wellbeing is very important to us. We provide clear structures, excellent resources and outstanding professional development for our staff. All teachers new to the Trust receive pre-induction training before starting in post. We are an outward facing trust and believe in learning from the best schools and systems - you will have lots of opportunity to watch outstanding practice and get involved in wider projects across our dynamic Trust as well as be supported to progress in your teaching career.   There are opportunities for new teachers to take on leadership responsibilities for the right candidate. We are also open to part time working requests.

We offer a high quality, well-resourced and carefully structured curriculum to support teacher wellbeing.  High quality specialist teachers are employed to teach PE, art, computing, music and French. We strive to meet the needs of all our children – doing ‘Whatever It Takes’ to help children fulfil their potential.

At Q1E we offer a range of staff benefits which include: Teachers’ Pension Scheme; free coffee and tea; free on-site parking; interest free ‘travel to work loan scheme’ and Cycle-to Work Scheme.

Our well maintained site is situated between vibrant Battersea and the open space of Clapham Common, so we also have excellent transport links. For example, our proximity to Clapham Junction station gives us easy access to central London and across the south of England.

Who can apply: Applicants must have a suitable teaching qualification BA (Ed), BEd or PGCE (or equivalent). Applications from ECTs or more experienced teachers are welcome.
